Holly photographs babies, children, teens, and their families at outdoor locations, in her clients’ home environments, and in her studio.
Holly’s one hour sessions are casual, relaxed, and not rushed, so your children will have time to warm up to being photographed and have breaks if needed. She is often found talking, singing, and playing with the children to create natural smiles and expressions.
Holly does not pose children or families, but rather places them in an appropriate place for the image she wants to create. She then captures them naturally often letting them sit or stand as they are comfortable, yielding images that are a true representation of your child and his/her personality.
Holly loves the variety and uniqueness of home sessions. She will photograph your family and children in your baby’s nursery, kids’ bedrooms, living room, or playroom. She can also use your backyard or front steps depending on the lighting at the time of your session. Holly uses your furniture; such as a chairs, sofas, and cribs or photographs your children playing on the floor with their favorite toys or books with a simple wall as a backdrop.
Indoor natural light sessions will most likely take place near a window or doorway. Artificial light can be used if needed on an overly cloudy day or in a dimly lit home. Holly is skilled in creating the look of natural light with her softbox, so no worries if it’s a rainy day.
An outdoor session with Holly can take place at a local park, downtown area, or in your backyard. When booking a portrait session with Holly, she will help you choose a location that will be the perfect backdrop for your family’s images.
Sessions can also take place in Holly’s studio in Southeast Franklin, with up to two adults and two small children. In her studio, she keeps it pretty simple and classic, as she feels the pictures should be about the people and expressions rather than the stuff around them. She uses her white studio wall, solid neutral colored backdrops, and wood floors (white, dark brown, and gray). She has several kid sized chairs, stools, a small wood box, and light gray loveseat. Her goal in studio sessions is to photograph your child’s different expressions, milestones (crawling, sitting up, standing), and relationship with their family members, all within a simple timeless backdrop.
Holly loves newborns! Her newborn sessions take place in your home or in Holly’s studio. Sessions with a “sleeping baby” are done in the studio and are usually best if completed within the first 2 weeks. Sessions in your home can be done whenever your family is ready and baby may or may not be asleep for the pictures. Holly will photograph your newborn and your immediate family (if requested).
Holly books mini sessions with newborns, however she photographs baby only, no parent or sibling images. Baby may or may not be asleep for the pictures, whatever they decide to do!
Please contact Holly during your pregnancy to reserve a possible time frame for your newborn session. A session fee is required to reserve a spot on Holly’s calendar. When your baby is born, the exact day and time will be scheduled. You just never know when your baby will arrive!
Mini sessions are for the family that wants a few updated images of their child(ren). Great for a holiday card image, mommy and me, or to celebrate something new (lost teeth, new big girl haircut, best friends, etc.). These sessions are pretty limited time wise and can be more rushed, but I like to offer them for those that feel it’s a good fit for their needs. They last 20 minutes (30 minutes in home) and can take place in Holly’s studio, outdoors, or in your home (for a fee) within 20 miles of Southeast Franklin. A location list will be provided upon booking for outdoor sessions.
“Senior Portrait” Sessions
Holly is also available for senior portrait sessions. These sessions are booked by parents of rising high school seniors who aren’t interested in the traditional senior studio session. Although they will go to a specific studio (if required) for the yearbook picture – they are looking for something special, creative, and relaxed to celebrate their child’s last year in high school.
